MARIE THOMPSON (1904 - 2000)


Marie Carola THOMPSON, 95, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Stanley, passed away February 20, 2000, at the Clairmont Nursing Facility in Eau Claire.


Marie was born October 6, 1904, in Granite Falls, MN, the daughter of Peter and Thea (LARSON) THOMPSON.


The family came to Stanley in 1905, where Marie grew up and attended area schools. She attended U.W.at River Falls and graduated from U.W. at Superior. She received her masters degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She was a classroom teacher and also County Supervisor in Chippewa, Trempealeau, and Waushara Counties. She was also a critic teacher at U.W.at Whitewater and later an elementary principal in Elroy. After her retirement in 1969, she moved back to the area, where she resided with her sisters, Valborg, and Margaret, and her brother, Carl.


She is survived by many nieces and nephews.


She is preceded in death by her parents two sisters, Margaret and Valborg and four brothers, Lars, Carl, Conrad, and Melvin.


Funeral services will be held today, February 24, at 1 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley. Visitation will be one hour before the services. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Stanley.


Plombon Funeral Home of Stanley is in charge of the arrangements.
