ORVILLE CLAYTON STONEBURG
 

Greenwood - Funeral services for Orville Clayton Stoneburg, 41, a former resident of Greenwood, Clark County, who died of a heart attack April 20, 1953 at Kenosha while working on his truck, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Schiller Funeral Home. the Rev. Arthur Riley, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, officiated. Burial took place in the Greenwood cemetery.


Pallbearers were George Speich, Reynold, John, and Arleigh Syth, Robert McConnell, and Olaf Johnson.


Mrs. Donald Ellingson sang "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" and Be Still My Soul", with Mrs. William Olson as pianist.


Milityary services were conducted at the graveside. Color bearers were James Plank and Kenneth Speich. Laverne Brown acted as commander of the firing squad composed of Edward Bogdonovich, Donald Ellingson, Walter Hohl, and Theodore Ampe. James Snedic served as bugler. Escort for the colors consisted of James Sondereger, Laverne Brown, and Edwin Johnson. Mr. Johnson folded the flag and presented it to Mr. Stoneburg's mother, Mrs. Agnes Stoneburg, Bimidji, Minn.


Our-of town person who attended the rites included, in addition to his mother Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stoneburg, Wallosa, Ore. Mrs. Fred Francis, Thorp Mrs. L. Schlicter, Humbird and Mrs Iolo Benner, Mrs. Florence Roth, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rosenboom, Mrs. George Staves, and Mrs. Leonard Engedahl, Eau Claire.


Mr. Stoneburg was born June 28, 1912, at Greenwood, and received his education in Greenwood, Fairchild, and Marshfield. In 1924, he moved with his parents to Marshfield, where they lived until 1937. His father, Ivan Stoneburg, died here.


While in Marshfield, he served as treasurer of the local Equitable Reserve Association for a year. In March, 1942, he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific until Dec. 10, 1945. For the past five years he was employed by the Kenosha Auto Transport Company.


Surviving besides his mother is a brother, Earl M. Stoneburg, Portland, Ore. A brother, Lloyd, also preceded him in death.
