MRS. STABNOW DIES SUDDENLY

The community was grieved and shocked Sunday morning to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Johanna Stabnow.

Johanna Kleinschmidt was born in Germany, June 20, 1863, and at the time of her death was 63 years, 7 months and 10 days of age. She came to this country when a young girl and was united in marriage to Wm. C. Stabnow in 1884, the wedding taking place in Sauk County.

Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Stabnow went to South Dakota, where they homesteaded. In 1808 they came back to Wisconsin and located on a farm in the town of Beaver until 1912 when they moved to this city. Mr. Stabnow died September 15, 1916.
Deceased was taken ill with tubercular pleurisy last October and on November 10th, she entered the hospital at Marshfield, where she remained 8 weeks. At the time she left there her condition was greatly improved. Since returning from the hospital she made her home with her son Harold and family and had been there but 17 days when death relieved her from all earthly suffering.

She is survived by three sons, Harold and Walter of Greenwood and Carl of Owen. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Henry Stabnow, and one brother, Carl Kleinschmidt, both of this city, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the Reformed Church in this city yesterday afternoon, Rev. E. G. Pfeiffer officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Stabnow was one of our most respected citizens and was always ready with a helping hand to those in need. But in her death there is little cause for grief for she had filled the various relations of life, as daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend, and filled them well.
