BERNARD SCHESEL (1908 - 2000)


Bernard "Ben" A. SCHESEL, 91, of Stanley passed away February 28, 2000, at Chippewa Manor in Chippewa Falls.


He was born in the Town of Edson on November 21, 1908, the son of Frank, Sr., and Elizabeth (SPAETH) SCHESEL. He grew up in the area and attended area schools.


On June 2, 1936, he was united in marriage to Delphine ESLINGER at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edson. They lived and farmed in Edson until retiring in 1970, when they moved to Stanley and lived here ever since.


Ben was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Order of Foresters, Court 1536. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved playing cards, especially sheepshead.


He is survived by his wife, Delphine, of Stanley one son, Donald (Judy) of Stanley one daughter, Jeannine SETZER of Boyd grandchildren, Jeff and Faron SCHESEL, Sherri (David) DROZD, Holly (Ryan) WINKLER, Tom (Margie) SETZER, Duane (Lori) SETZER, Randy (Crystal) SETZER, and Lori (Dave) MOHR great grandchildren, Tessa, Tiffany, Tyler, and Karissa SETZER, McKenzie and McKayla DROZD, Kelsey MOHR, and Michael, Jacob, and Zachary SETZER and one sister, Frances (Leo) SHAKAL of Stanley.


He his preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth a brother, Frank, Jr. sisters, Verona HOHMAN and Ann FAGAN son-in-law, Allen SETZER and his great grandsons, David MOHR and Shawn SETZER.


A visitation was held Wednesday evening at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley, with a rosary led by the Catholic Order of Foresters. Funeral services are today, March 2, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stanley, Fr. Robert Nelson officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff and Faron SCHESEL and Thomas, Duane, and Randy SETZER. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.


Plombon Funeral Home of Stanley is in charge of the arrangements.
