Herbert Lube (1914 - 1999)

Herbert A. Lube, 85, Colby, Clark County, WI died Friday, Dec. 24, at the Colonial House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Colby, where he had resided the past six years.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Colby with Rev. DuWayne Schneider officiating. Burial took place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Colby. Pallbearers were Jim Staffeil, Steve Luther, Jerome Michlig, Darnell Schoelzel, Bob Knecht, and Ralph Will.

Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford assisted the family with arrangements.

Herbert Lube was born August 28, 1914, at the Town of Colby, to the late Arthur and Mary (Schultz) Lube. He attended Colby schools.

His marriage to the former Margaret Hertz, who survives, took place on February 27, 1935, at Colby. They farmed in the Colby area for 41 years, retiring in 1976. In 1978, they moved to rural Curtiss where they continued hobby farming. He drove school bus for the Colby School District, was a lineman for the local telephone company, employed by Curtiss Milling, Spencer Co-op, and the Township of Green Grove.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and served on the church council and the cemetery committee.

In addition to his wife survivors include, two sons, Kenneth, Medford, and Randall (Paula), Lincoln, Neb. two daughters, Joyce (Richard) Hamann, Curtiss, and Judith (David) Mueller, Eau Claire three sisters, Martha Neuman and Norma Schaffer, both of Colby, and Edna (Joseph) Olson, Unity eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one infant son, and two sisters, Leona Roth and Verna Reich.
