WALTER HURT (1915 - 2000)


Walter A. HURT, 84, of Bloomer passed away January 1, 2000, at the MapleWood in Bloomer.


He was born September 16, 1915, in the town of Tilden to Joseph and Theresa (TRAXLER) HURT. He attended St. Peter's School in Tilden.


He married Delphine SPATH September 8, 1936, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. He operated Hurt's Bar in Chippewa Falls until 1937. He then farmed and drove truck and school bus. He was the former operator of Hurt's Service Station from 1952 until his retirement in 1981.


He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer and a former member of the Bloomer I.D.C., the Bloomer Chamber of Commerce and the Bloomer Moose lodge.


He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be remembered for his harmonica playing and telling jokes.


He is survived by his wife, Delphine HURT, of Bloomer four sons, Jerome (Theresa) of Bloomer, James (Rita) of Bloomer, Walter of Bloomer and John (Ramona) of New Auburn four daughters, Marian (Harold) HUNT of Chippewa Falls, Sylvia (Joe) JENNINGS of Spirit Lake (IA), Theresa (Dan) DUVAL of Bloomer and Valeria (Greg) SEIDLING of Bloomer one sister-in-law, Clara HURT of Chippewa Falls 43 grandchildren numerous great grandchildren one great great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.


He is preceded in death by his parents one son in infancy, Gerald HURT one grandson, Herb HUNT and five brothers, Frank, Joseph, Phillip, Herbert, and Leo HURT and three sisters, Anne GOETTL, Mary HARTMAN, and Theresa RUBENZER.


Funeral services were Wednesday, January 5, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer. Father Norman Boneck officiated. Burial was in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer.


Schriver Funeral Chapel of Bloomer was in charge of the arrangements.
