ROBERT L. CARL (1923-1994)


Robert L. Carl, 70, Greenwood, Clark County, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1994, at Neillsville Memorial Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, 1994, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood.

 

Rev. Robert Olson officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood City Cemetery.


Military rites were performed by the Greenwood American Legion Post 238. Pallbearers were members of the Greenwood Fire Department.


Robert L. Carl was born on Dec. 14, 1923, to Ervin and Ida (nee Weitting) Carl. He graduated from Greenwood High School. He married Mary Reichling on June 11, 1952, in Withee. She preceded him in death in March 1989. As a young man he worked in his grandpa's blacksmith shop in Greenwood. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and served in Germany. He was an M. P. at the Nuremberg Trials. After returning from the military, he worked for the City of Greenwood Public Works for a couple of years. He then worked as a mechanic at Pine's Service Station in Greenwood for 26 years until his retirements in January 1981. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion 238 and the Greenwood Fire Department for 44 years.


Survivors include one son, Francis (Kathleen) Carl, Neillsville three daughters, Marilee (Carl) Kuaskie, Merrillan Lynne (Thomas) Abel, Greenwood and Toni Carl, Neillsville six grandchildren two brothers, Harland Carl, Appleton and DuWayne Carl, Manawa and one sister, Marjorie Fahim, Gross Point, Mich.


He was preceded in death by his wife one daughter, Roberta in December 1960 and his parents.


Rinka Funeral Home of Greenwood assisted the family with the arrangements.
