OBITUARY OF MRS. ERASTUS BOWEN

Mary Elizabeth Andrews was born in Rawdon Township, Hasting County, Ontario, June 25, 1856. She moved to Greenwood, Clark County, Wis. in 1871. She was educated in the public school there and at Galesville University, afterward following the profession of teach until her marriage to Erastus Bowen Jan. 4, 1881. They then moved to North Dakota and were among the pioneers of that country, afterward moving to Columbus, Wis. There were two children born to them, Rose and Grace. In the year 1900, Mr. and Mrs. Bowen and Rose moved to Greenwood, Wis., Grace having died while they were living at Columbus, Wis., and here Mrs. Bowen lived until her death, May 19, 1920, here daughter Rose preceding her by one month and three weeks.

She leaves to mourn their loss, a husband, four sisters, Mrs. H. J. Thomas, Greenwood, Wis. Mrs. Arthur Cadman, Fairchild, Wis. Mrs. Flora Hall and Miss Lilla Andrews, both of Chicago, and one brother, Sehldon Andrews of Greenwood, Wis. besides numerous other relatives and a host of sincere friends.

Mrs. Bowen was a member of the local Eastern Star and the W.C.T.U. She was also a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, having united with it in early life and was a useful and devoted member until she was call to the Church Triumphant. She held the offices of Stewart and secretary and treasurer of the church for many years and was a tireless and active member of the Ladies Aid Society. Her special work however, was in the Sunday School, where she served efficiently as superintendent for many years. Her last message to the Sunday School shortly before she passed away was, Tell each member of the school to live a Christian life.

Her sweetness and patience in her last sickness, and her firm and glad assurance that she would soon see her Pilot face to face, as well as her loved ones, who had gone before, was a wonderful vindication of her lifetime faith.

The funeral services were conducted from the home, Rev. J. A. Moats her pastor officiating, using the very appropriate text, Blessed are the dead, who died in the Lord. They rest from their labors and their works do follow them . The remains were taken to Columbus, Wis, and laid to rest beside here daughters, Rose and Grace.
