The prolonged January thaw came abruptly to an end last Tuesday followed by a snow storm so that the long looked for sleighing finally put in its appearance and would have been pretty good if the wind had not blown so hard as to make many drifts.

Either your correspondence or the Editor made Ed. Hahm come all the way from California in last weeks’ issue, when he came only from Chicago.

A.J. Prest, director of the school board, attended the school board convention at Grand Rapids Wednesday and Thursday of last week.

Nellie Broker returned Sunday eve, from her Stevens Point visit.  It seems superfelus to say that she had a splendid time.

Will Hartel was a passenger on Monday’s outgoing train, headed for Grand Rapids on a short business trip, returning Wednesday.

The Ladies Aid sociable at the church Thursday night was well attended and an interesting program of singing and recitations which was a feature enjoyed by all present.  To liven the matter for the young people they had a fishing pond and then a hunt for three boxes of home made candy which was hidden in the church.  After these features came a lay lunch consisting of cake and coffee, closing the program along about the hours of ten and eleven o’clock.  The proceeds of the evening amounted to $11.50.

It is reported at this writing that Harwick has sold his blacksmith shop to Geo. Burt.

Rev. Peckham filled his appointments at the Lindsey church Sunday morning and evening.  He went home by way of Chili, taking the midnight train.

Announcement is made that Prof. Jackson of the Wood Co. Normal will deliver a lecture in Lindsey church Friday, Jan. 30.  He will speak on the subject of education from the stand point of the school as the civic center of the community.  Mr. Jackson always interests his hearers in what ever subject he discusses.

Mr. Gillman came Tuesday from Fond du Lac by way of Marshfield with a prospective buyer for Lindsey land.  Mr. Gillman formerly lived here and owns the House property.  He returned Wednesday on the outgoing Lynn train.

A.J. Prest has added another through bred Guernsey, his best cow having dropped a bull calf Tuesday night about six o’clock.
