Wirkus, James W. (20 AUG 1947 - 14 OCT 2012)

James "Jim" W. Wirkus, 65, Loyal, died Sunday, October 14, 2012.

He was born August 20, 1947 in Edgar, son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Meyer) Wirkus. On November 14, 1970 he married Gloria Wendt in Edgar.

Jim served his country in the United States Marines. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, going to auctions and spending time at his cabin.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria; children, Amy (William) Schmitt, and Stan (Jamie) Wirkus; grandchildren, Josh, Abby, Brianna, Waylon, Ella and Remm; brothers, John (Barb) Wirkus, Charles Wirkus, Joseph Wirkus, Michael Wirkus, Patrick (Nancy) Wirkus, Frank (Sandy) Wirkus and Donald (Annie) Wirkus; sisters, Carol (Jim) Streveler, Patty (Jim) Nowak, Marjean (Jim) Bomski, Rosemary (Clifford) Bohman, Betty (Dave) Krall, Jane (Glen) Dickson, and Joan (Mike) Kuyoth; sister-in-law, Mary Wirkus, and other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert and sister and brother-in-law, Sharon (Lyle) Heckel.

The memorial Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
