The ever occurring news is the steady freezing zero weather, as steady as the sun, only ever increasing in severity.

Mrs. A. Verhagen presented her husband with a baby last week.

Mrs. Vivian Allen has been helping Mrs. A.W. Wendorf with her housework.

A.W. Wendorf’s boy was baptized last Sunday and received the names Robert Albert.  Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hoffman were sponsors.

The railroad facilities have been hampered very much through the cold weather and snow storms.  Trains have been late from 3 to 8 hours, some not coming at all.  Traveling is not altogether an agreeable pastime just now.  A person traveling will find quite often that his train will stop most anyplace on the tracks, perhaps the train will move a little, then stop again, and so keeps on going until the station is reached.  All the traveler can do is to take it easy if he can.

Milwaukee in wintertime is not exactly like a little country town, it is a fair sized noisy country town.  A person who gets there once in five or ten years gets the impression that Milwaukee is shooting up into the air.  In the early 90’s the only skyscraper was the Pabst building on Wisconsin St.  Now you see those 12 and 15-story buildings on all sides.  The Exposition building ahs been replaced by the great magnificent Auditorium.  The Hardware Dealers’ Association held there the annual convention.  About 600 dealers from all parties of the state participated.  It was a good representation of a bunch of the business part of this state that has a great influence in building up the country.  Men of experience gave to all their ideas in the different lines of the hardware business.  It was interesting and instructive to make better citizens and better businessmen.  Every hardware man ought to be a member of the association and ought to attend every meeting if possible.

The dividend checks are handed out now at the elevator by Clark Waterman, who is glad to hand them out, especially that he helped to make them as large as they are this year in spite of the increase in stock shares sold since last year.  The elevator could hardly find a better man in his place, always on the job, always looking after the interest of the company.
