Baures, Henry (29 DEC 1872 - 27 MAY 1960)

 

Henry Baures, 87, passed away from old age infirmities on Friday, May 27, 1960 at Sacred Heart Hospital at Eau Claire.  He was the last member to die from a family of 12 children.

 

Funeral services were held for him on Tuesday morning, May 31, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at Thorp, the Rev. Charles Schumacher, a nephew of the deceased, officiating.  Interment took place at St. Bernard’s Parish Cemetery, Thorp.  Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Jan Felker of Minneapolis; David, Dennis and Wayne Haas of Thorp, and great grandson Jerome Butterfield of Wausau.

 

Mr. Baures was born at Fountain City, Wis. on Dec. 29, 1872, thus having reached the age of 87 years, 4 months and 29 days.  On Oct. 8, 1895 he married Anna M. Doelle at St. Joseph’s Church at Glencoe, Wis.  They resided at Arcadia and Menomonie, Wis., before moving to a farm south of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1914 and later to the city of Thorp.  His wife passed away in March of 1952.  The last four years Mr. Baures made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Art Baures at Fairchild.

 

He is survived by three sons, Arthur of Fairchild, Firman and Edward, both of Thorp, four daughters, (Laura) Mrs. Casper Haas, Thorp, (Eleanor) Mrs. Carl Carlson, Minneapolis, (Mary) Mrs. Emil Carlson, Los Angeles, Calif., (Margaret) Mrs. John Felker, Minneapolis, 52 grandchildren and 100 great-grandchildren.

 

Two sons preceded him in death, Joseph at the age of 9 years and Walter of Long Beach, Calif, in 1956, and one daughter (Irene), Mrs. Robert Haas of Thorp, in 1959.
