Mueller, Mary Ellen (09 AUG 1958)

When Miss Mary Ellen Mueller came before the Rev. John Pfohl on the arm of her cousin, Darryl Farnsworth, to exchange marriage vows with Duane R. Schroeder at 2:30 p.m. August 9 in Trinity Lutheran Church, she was wearing a floor-length gown of chiffon taffeta merged with chantilly lace, forming a cathedral train. The scooped neckline of her basque bodice was accented by glowing pearls and jewel-tone sequins. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion net fell from a half pillbox of matching lace trimmed with seed pearls and sequins. Her cascade bouquet of pink carnations and ivy was centered with a white orchid.

Parents of the couple are Mrs. Myrtle Mueller of Waverly, Iowa, and the late August Mueller, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Schroeder of R. 2, Loyal.

Miss Joan Schroeder, sister of the groom served as the bride’s maid of honor and Miss Bette Nystad, San Jose, Calif.; Miss Marlene Anderegg, Marshfield; Miss Jeanette Mayer, Hobart, Ind,; and Mary Lou Mittlelsteadt, Arlington Heights, Ill.; were bridesmaids.

Net ruffles, fashioned the skirts and bodices of their floor-length gowns which featured pleated metallic cummerbunds with large bows and streamers at the back. Bolero jackets were worn with their sleeveless dresses. Picture hats of tulle with floral trim and white lace fans with carnations tinted to match thei ensemble. They wore shades of shrimp, blue, pink, yellow and green.

Sherri Kroetz, Madison, and Debbie Farnsworth, Marshfield, cousins of the bride, in floor-length dresses of flocked white nylon and carrying baskets of yellow roses, pink carnations and white statice, were flower girls. Timmie Nystad.\, Loyal, coudin of the groom, was ring bearer.

Darwin Farnsworth, Spencer, was his cousin’s best man and groomsmen were Bill Melvin, Independence, Iowa; Bob Loslo, Rantoul, Ill.; Jerry Mayer, Hobart, Ind,; and Earl Thomas, Portage.

Julius Nystad, Loyal; Harold Kurtz, West DePere; and Tom Bertz, St. Paul, Minn.; seated the guests.

Church decorations were palms, baskets of yellow and white gladioli, and other garden flowers, and pink and white satin bows decorated the pews. Miss Carol Noeldner was organist for the wedding music and Miss Karen Haslow sang the "Lord’s Prayer," "Wedding Prayer," and "Today, O Lord." A reception followed the wedding at Bruno’s Supper Club, with a dance in the evening.

The groom is a graduate of the Loyal High School and Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa and is affiliated with Alpha Phi Gamma honorary journalism fraternity. He is employed as news director in the public relations department of Wartburg College, Waverly. The bride is also a graduate of the Loyal High School and is employed at the First National Bank in Waverly.

The bride’s mother viewed her daughter’s wedding in powder blue lace dress over taffeta with black accessories and the groom’s mother wore navy sheer with white accessories. Their corsages were white carnations with pink roses.

A rehearsal party was held at Bruno’s Supper Club Friday and a shower was given for the couple at the Marshfield Armory and at the home of Mrs. William Drostis in Waverly.

Mrs. Erwin Farnsworth, aunt of the bride, cut wedding cake and Mrs. George Mittlestadt of Arlington Heights, Illinois, presided at the guest Book. Guests numbering 300 came from California, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin to attend the wedding.

The bride was wearing a pink dress with a white orchid corsage when the couple left for their honeymoon in the Black Hills and Colorado. When they return, they will make their home in Waverly, Iowa.
