Gronek, Stanley #3 (17 AUG 1895 - 10 APR 1960)

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 13, for Stanley Gronek, 64, at Thorp at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church.  The rev. Francis Disher officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery.

 

The pallbearers were Tony Ciszewski, Joe Ciszewski, Ben Pawlak, Calvin Pawlak, Robert Pawlak, and Edward Paczkowski.

 

Mr. Gronek died Sunday morning, April 10, 1960 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.  A rosary service was also held Tuesday evening at the Polnaszek Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Gronek was born Aug. 17, 1895 in Philadelphia, Pa.  he came to Withee at the age of 5 in 1900 with his parents and was married Oct. 26, 1921 at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) to the former Stella Pawlak, who survives him.  They farmed in the Thorp area for 35 years, then moved to Curtiss, where they lived for three years.  The Groneks had lived at Abbotsford for the past two years.

 

Other survivors are three sons, John of Calif., Frank of Chicago, and ed, Berwyn, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Clemence (Rose) Grajek, Mrs. Ed (Sophie) Filipiak and Mrs. Tony (Helen) Polak, all of Chicago; nine grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Francis Paczkowski, Withee, and Miss Minnie Gronek of Chicago.

 

Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

 

Those from out of town attending the funeral were John Gronek, Fontana, Calif., Mrs. Anton Zuch and son Richie, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mitek, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fjalkiewicz, Conrath, Wis., and from Stanley, Owen, Thorp, Withee, Curtiss, Abbotsford, Colby and Dorchester.
