Eloranta, Helen (Marriage - 31 July 1965)

 

Baskets of gladioli and chrysanthemums adorned the altar of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee for the wedding of Miss Helen Eloranta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Eloranta of Rt. 1, Owen, and Neil P. Vater, of Dubuque, Ia., son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil F. Vater of Rt. 1 Owen.

 

The nuptials were solemnized by the Rev. Beryl Knudsen in a double ring ceremony Saturday.  Vocal music was furnished by Miss Burnee Kraut, accompanied at the organ by Louise Hansen.

 

The bride, carrying a bouquet of giant chrysanthemums, yellow roses and stephanotis entwined with ivy, entered the church wearing a floor length gown of white taffeta and lace. She was given in marriage by her father.

 

Miss Shirley Jensen of Withee was maid-of-honor. Bridesmaid was Miss Claudia Tesch of Schofield. The attendants wore street-length dresses of yellow lace and taffeta.  They carried bouquets of white chrysanthemums and yellow roses.

 

Jim Eloranta of Owen was best man.  Groomsman was Jack Vater of La Crosse. Tracey Hansen of Withee and Jack Eloranta were the ushers.

 

Mr. Vater is a graduate of Wausau Technical Institute and is employed as a tool designer in Dubuque, Ia.  Mrs. Vater attended the University of Wisconsin for two years and will be enrolled in Wisconsin State University-Platteville in the fall.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Vater will reside in Platteville after August 23, on their return from a wedding trip to the western states and Canada.  

 

Guests from out of town attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Eloranta and daughters of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Miss Anne Peterson of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Peterson, Sue and Nels Peterson, of Brown Deer; Mrs. Jessie Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson and children of La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Calkins and family of St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Ruth Moody of Madison; Mrs. Alice Jones and daughter of Randolph; Mrs. Donald Tesch and daughter of Schofield; Miss Connie Engel of Valparaiso, Ind.; Miss Sandra Kangas of Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Myrtle Munson of Green Bay, and Miss Elaine Hohman of Schofield.
