Lewis, Mary Jane (Marriage - 31 July 1965)

Nuptial vows were exchanged Saturday at a mass in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville by Miss Mary Jane Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Granville Lewis of Rt. 3, Neillsville, and John P. Pettit, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Pettit of Rt. 1 Neillsville.  A double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Bernard T. Kelly before an altar graced with vases of white gladioli and blue carnations. The pews were marked with white bows and pink petunias.

Seventy five guests witnessed as Mr. Lewis gave his daughter in marriage.

The bride chose a floor-length gown of white organza and lace over taffeta.  The sweetheart neckline was trimmed with rhinestones and pearls.  The back of the gown was fashioned in a bustle-style, trimmed with white roses of self-same material.  A white satin rose headpiece, trimmed with seed pearls, held her shoulder length veil. She carried a bouquet of pink sweetheart roses and white stephanotis with ivy.

Miss Kathleen Wendt, maid of honor was attired in floor length blue nylon over taffeta dress.  Her flowers were pink and blue carnations, centered with a white orchid in a colonial style bouquet.

Lori DeMoulin and Tammy Lewis, as junior bridesmaids, wore blue taffeta and chiffon dresses. They carried colonial-style bouquets of blue-white carnations.

Lawrence Kyle of Neillsville was bestman.  Ushers were David Pettit and Ted Lewis, brothers of the groom and bride.

A dinner for the immediate family was held at a nearby supper club. A reception was held in the afternoon at the Pettit’s home.
