Johnson, Frances A. (20 FEB 1889 - 31 JUL 1963)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Alpha Johnson were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Fidler Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, S.D., with the Rev. Arthur W. Westwood, pastor of the First Congregational Church officiating.  Interment was in the Rosehill Cemetery at Spearfish.  Mrs. Johnson passed away very unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 31, 1963, at the Dorsett Memorial Home in Spearfish following a brief illness.

 

She was born Feb. 20, 1889, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Rigg at Lincoln, Ill., where she was raised and attended school.  She moved with her family to Withee (Clark Co.), Wis. in 1911, and was married to Carl L. Johnson on July 20, 1916 at Chippewa Falls, Wis.  They lived in Owen until 1931 when they moved to Clear Lake, Wis., and resided there six years.  They have made their home at Mellon, Wis. since 1937.  For the past three years they have spent their winters in the Black Hills of South Dakota with their daughter’s at Spearfish and Rapid City.  On June 4, 1963, they became residents of the Dorsett Memorial Home at Spearfish.

 

Survivors include her husband, Carl; two daughters, Mrs. Sydney Nicholas of Spearfish, and Mrs. Fred Priewert of Rapid City, S.D.; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Frank Griffin of West Concord, Minn.; and one brother, Clifford Rigg of Payson, Ariz.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Clarence.
