Elmendorf, Harold (23 February 1900 - 29 May 1965)

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short received a telephone call Saturday evening from Mrs. Harold Elmendorf of Seattle, Wash., telling of the death of her husband, Harold Elmendorf, 65, at Ballard Hospital.  He died Saturday afternoon after a few weeks’ illness following surgery.  He suffered another heart attack Saturday afternoon, from which he never recovered.

He was born February 23, 1900, near Thorp, where he grew to manhood.  He was united in marriage to Myrtle Romfoe July 18, 1923 at Gilman.  Mr. Elmendorf and family lived in Neillsville and Granton and rural Neillsville, where he worked for the Clark County Highway Department for many years.  He was patrolman on Highways 10 and 73.  They moved to Seattle about 1942 or 1943.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Patrick and Mrs. Doreen Kines, both of Seattle; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Frank Scholtz of Thorp; and two brothers, Bernard of Arizona and Cletis of Kent, Wash. Funeral arrangements hadn’t been made yet.

Mr. Elmendorf received many nice cards and letters from their old friends back here while he was ill in the hospital.  He enjoyed them very much and the family was very appreciative.
