Roberta J. Lesar was born on Aug. 24, 1952, in Neillsville, the daughter of John and Mary L. (nee Koschak) Lesar. She was a 1970 graduate of Greenwood High School. She then attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she graduated in 1973 with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics.
