Larry E. Schultz, 71, Marshfield, died unexpectedly, Jan. 21, 2012, at Stoney River Assisted Living, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Zion United Methodist Church, Marshfield. Rev. Mike Carlson officiated. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post #54, Marshfield.

 

Larry E. Schultz was born on June 24, 1940, in Rockford, Ill., to Clayton and Gladys (nee Stroud) Schultz. He married Sandra Tate on Dec. 24, 1960, in Belvidere, Ill. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1960 and was stationed in Germany from 1961-63 and at various bases in the U.S. until his discharge in 1965. He and his wife then moved to Illinois and later to Wisconsin where they remained until 1971. They had three children. After their divorce in 1984, he and his significant other, Patty Hillert, had three more sons. He worked at various jobs in Illinois and Wisconsin before becoming a certified mechanic. He owned auto body and repair shops in Greenwood and Loyal until 1981. He enjoyed racing stock cars, watching NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers, hunting, and music.

 

Survivors include six children, Brenda (Arnie) Bravener, Arpin, Larry Jr. (Theresa) Schultz, Marshfield, Corey (Terri) Schultz, Neillsville, Jessie Schultz, Neillsville, Dillon Schultz, Neillsville, and Ryan Schultz, Neillsville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his significant other, Patty Hillert, Neillsville; seven siblings, Vi Sheneman, Rockford, Ill., Lois Chilson, Marshfield, Clayton Schultz Jr., Green Bay, Wilma (Earl) Tennant, Huntsville, Texas, Duane (Barb) Schultz, Berlin, Sandi Coyle, Plover, and Diane (Duane) Schultze, Greenwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Gordon Schultz.
