Susa, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Golden - 26 November 1964)

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Susa, who were married in Greenwood November 26, 1914, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently.

An anniversary mass was celebrated in St. Mary’s Church in Greenwood, with marriage vows being renewed in the presence of the pastor, the Rev. Edward Hartung.  In a Sunday celebration, relatives and friends were entertained in the afternoon, and supper was served to relatives that evening at the Susa home.

The honored couple was presented with vases of red and yellow roses and potted chrysanthemums by their grandchildren and friends. Their-daughter-in law, Mrs. Robert Susa, baked and decorated the anniversary cake.  They received many gifts, a purse of money, and congratulatory cards.

Mr. Susa, son of Joseph and Susan Susa, was born July 6, 1887, in Waumandee. At the age of eight years he moved with his parents to Greenwood. He was for a number of years on the Janesville School board in the Town of Eaton.  His hobbies are fishing and gardening.

Mrs. Susa, the former Katherine Waseca, daughter of Robert and Rose Waseca, was born February 14, 1895, in the Town of Eaton, and is a lifelong resident of Greenwood. She enjoys sewing and gardening.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Susa settled on a farm four miles southwest of Greenwood, where they resided until they retired from farming in 1958 and move to the city of Greenwood.  Both are in good health.

The Susas have a son, Robert, of Greenwood; and six grandchildren, Jacob, Thomas, Judith, Patricia, Penny and Joseph Susa. All were present for the occasion.

One of the original attendants was present; He was John Susa, Sr., of Greenwood. The other attendant, Nora Spangler, is deceased.  Guests were Mr. and Mrs. John Brown of Eau Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stormal of Delavan, and relatives and friends from the surrounding area.
