Alva Howard went to Chili Wednesday.

Fordyce Ross has the measles.

Mrs. L.G. Morris was a Marshfield visitor on Friday.

Miss Lulu Beecher spent Tuesday with friends at Neillsville.

Miss Emma Riedel spent Saturday visiting friends at Neillsville.

The Aug. Pierrelee place was sold last week to Fred Frank.

John Hefty visited his son John at Chili on Tuesday.

Mrs. Dora Garbush spent Saturday with old friends at Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Stratton returned home to Black river Falls Saturday.

Mrs. Geo. Beaver and daughter Rosetta came home from a visit at Athens on Friday.

Mrs. W.S. Davis spent Tuesday with Mrs. E.L Bradbury at Neillsville.

Geo. Frei, Geo. Brooks and H.B. Holmes were down the line on business Saturday.

Miss Edith Fox of Valley Jct. is visiting at the J.R. Johnson’s in Washburn since Monday.

Dr. W.D. Stillman of Waupaca visited old friends here last Thursday and Friday.

W.D. Rose transacted business at Marshfield and Unity early this week.

Fred Schwantes, proprietor of the Pleasant Ridge Cheese Factory, went to Butternut Wednesday.

Miss Gertie Mersberger of Sheboygan, after a 2 week visit at Geo. Trimberger’s, went home Saturday.

Mrs. Augusta Riedel has had her house repainted and toned up very materially in the last few weeks.

Walter Rowe went to Marshfield Friday and visited his sister-in-law, Mrs. Jennie Graves, at the hospital there.

Eugene Crandall and family spent Sunday with relatives at Neillsville.

Miss Lena Riedel came home from Elkhart Lake on Saturday.

Mrs. P.J. Kemmeter will entertain the Circle next Wednesday.

Miss Ethel Smith of the town of York left for Princeton on Monday.

Mrs. F.J. Baer spent Monday and Tuesday at the county seat engaged with abstract work.

Leonard Cole was home from Stevens Point and spent Sunday here.

Chester Finnegan went to Marshfield Saturday to meet his best girl.

Victor Cole came home from Rozelville and made an over Sunday visit.

W.B. Wentworth came up from Edgerton Saturday on a visit to his son Rush Wentworth.

Mrs. Elizabeth Fuller spent Monday with Mrs. Frank Breed at Neillsville.

Mrs. Otto Henze and Mrs. F.J. Baer autoed out and spent Saturday afternoon with Mrs. Chas. reed.

Mrs. Ernest Grave went to Hayward Saturday in response to news of the severe illness of a sister who resides there.

Mrs. Solon Davis and daughter Florence spent Friday with friends at Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Knorr returned late last week from their week’s auto trip and visit at Chilton.

Sam Martin of Heathville went to Eau Claire last week and accompanied his wife home from the hospital there, Friday.  Mrs. Martin is convalescing after a serious operation.

Rev. Reiff baptized Clarence the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Riedel, and Robert, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. August Lautenbach last Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Garbush left for Potter in Calumet Co. on a visit on Wednesday and will continue on to Green Bay and visit before returning home.

Student Giese came down from St. Paul and made a several days visit at Rev. Reiff’s, returning to the city on Wednesday.

Oscar Persinger and Insko Mackey of Blue River, after a several days visit at J.B. Daughhetee’s, returned home on Saturday.

The husking bee at J.B. Daughhetee’s Thursday night of last week was reported as being a very enjoyable affair for all in attendance.

Mrs. Frank Converse came up from Melrose last week, since which time she is visiting relatives here and at Neillsville.

Mr. Teatz of Chicago, after a several weeks visit here with his daughter, Mrs. Nick Hubing, returned tot eh city on Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Garbush and daughter Lillie, John Garbush, Miss Ora Marsh and Mrs. Myron Osgood were county seat visitors Monday.

Mrs. Wm. H. Edens returned on Saturday from a several weeks visit between Milwaukee, Plymouth and other state points.

Mrs. Geo. Wilson of the town of York arrived home on Saturday, after a 10 day visit with relatives in Iowa.

Henry Eisenhart of Humbird was over late last week and harvested his garden truck here.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Chapel and daughter Zona Belle came over from Marshfield Saturday and made a weekend visit at the Geo. Hart home.

Mrs. Kittie Polmanteer of Washburn is assisting her brother J.R. Johnson with the painting of the interior of the G.E. Amidon building since Tuesday.

The Sam Gerlach house has recently taken on a new coat of paint and presents a much improved appearance.

Mrs. August Schmoll and daughter Norma went to Fenwood Saturday and made an over Sunday visit, then spent Monday with friends at Marshfield and returned home that evening.

Mrs. Appleman of Vernon County, accompanied by Flossie and Hugh Keller of Hayward, who spent several days of last week here with the Wesley Shafter family, left for Vernon County on Friday.

John Seaman  of Sherwood drove in Monday and took the train for the county seat where he was called on business that day.

Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Rose, and son Harold arrived home all okay Thursday  evening of last week after a two week auto trip down into and through Sheboygan County.

Truman Davis, Myron Osgood, Mr. and Mrs. John Garbush, Charles Neinas, E.R. Monser and Miss Thea Marsh were among the Granton folks at the county seat Monday.

Cy Elliott of Harmony, Minn., a nephew of Frank Converse, arrived here last week on a visit to relatives and old friends.  He departed for his home again on Tuesday.

Mrs. Fred Cole, Mrs. Kissam and daughter Mildred, Mrs. H. Davis and Miss Myrtle Cole spent last Friday as guests of the Hank Pietenpol family.

Mrs. John Nonhof and baby Mabel Clair and Mrs. Saeger of Haynes, N.D., after a several day visit with the Al Nonhof family here, continued on to Grand Rapids on Saturday.

The Misses Sarah and Ella Lautenbach, who spent the past two months here with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lautenbach, returned to Milwaukee last Saturday.  Mr. F. Suttar, who was a visitor at the Lautenbach home, returned with them.

Mrs. Hattie Beeckler writes friends here to the effect that she is slowly recovering from her recent operation at a Chippewa Hospital and is expecting to leave there yet this week and go to her son Clyde’s at Cornellian Jr., Minn., for an indefinite stay and visit.

Dan Rausch, Noble and Homer Downer and Cy Elliott autoed to Maplehurst last Sunday to spend the day with Frank Converse and George Drake, who are camping and hunting near there.  The two hunters reported the capture of a big wolf on Saturday.

Mrs. Annie Williams inflicted a bad wound in the back of one of her hand by having it pierced with a large belt pin through an accident last Saturday.  A physician was called to dress the injury, from which she still suffers much.

Fran, Downer and family are vacation the Aug. Pierrelee place this week and moving back onto their own home a half mile west of there.

Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Daughhetee autoed to Jump River in Taylor Co. Saturday.  Mr. Daughhetee returned along the next day, while Mrs. D. stayed for a week’s visit.

Miss Martha Meyer and Mrs. Skortarzak and her two children, after a week’s visit at Nick Wirnaszki’s, went home to Markesan on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Fradenberg and Mr. and Mrs. Abe Fradenberg of Humbird came over Saturday and spent Sunday at the Fred Hart home.

Since Monday morning Mother Earth is covered with a white blanket of snow and the mercury has been down to a considerable degree below freezing.  It has every appearance of winter having come to stay.
