Grendzinski, Bernard John (23 June 1930 - 27 January 2012)

 

Bernard J. Grendzinski, age 81, of Wausau, formerly of Thorp, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012, at North Central Health Care, in Wausau.

 

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Don Meuret and Rev. Bob Thorn co-celebrated the Mass and burial followed in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery in Thorp. Visitation was held at the church, on Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

 

Bernard John Grendzinski was born on June 23, 1930, in Thorp, WI, the son of Alex Sr., and Jennie (Losiewicz) Grendzinski.  He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Sunny Lawn School and Thorp High School. Bernard worked on the family farm, with his father, until 1965.  He then moved to Wausau and worked for Marathon Battery and later retired from the Marathon County Health Care Center where he worked in maintenance.

 

He was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, in Wausau, and a former member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Bernard had several interests, but especially enjoyed art work, gardening, fixing things and puttering.

 

He is survived by one sister, Josephine Bauer of Wausau; four brothers: Casimer (Gertrude) Grendzinski of Tempe, AZ, Leon (Elizabeth ) Grendzinski of Wausau, Alex Jr. (Hilda) Grendzinski of Thorp, and Thomas (Kathie) Grendzinski of Burnsville, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Edwin Bauer; and four nephews: Justin Grendzinski, Gerald Grendzinski, Ronald Bauer and Jeffrey Jones.
