Foemmel’s Corners (11 August 1911)

Frank Lavey’s grain stack was struck by lightning Sunday evening.  Plenty of help was soon at hand but they found the inside of the stack to be on fire from top to bottom.

Miss Clara Krause spent several days last week with her sister Mrs. Dankemyer who accompanied her home when she came.

Mrs. Chas Hayden and her sister Mrs. Breese visited the John Sweet home near Cedarhurst Tuesday.

The Misses Krause and Ackerman were callers at the Will Schoengarth home Sunday.

Geo. Frei Jr. is digging a trench for the wall of A. J. Lammers’ barn which will be erected east and west of the factory.

Mrs. Dankemyer returned home Tuesday evening.

Truman Davis and wife drove over to Fred Garbisch’s after apples Tuesday evening and while on their way saw a coyote which is owned by Mr. Dan Starks and it is now eleven weeks old.

Fred Garbisch, wife and two youngest children spent Sunday at Will Foemmel’s.

Mrs. Sam Martin after spending several days with her mother returned last Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Pietenpol, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Hayden were seen on our streets Monday evening.

Mrs. Chas Cross and son Lawrence returned Friday from a few months stay at South Dakota.  Mr. Cross is expected later. The dry weather drove them back to dear old Wisconsin.

Truman Davis, wife and daughter, Lila Sundayed in Heathville with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davis.

Ross Paulson returned Sunday with 20 horses which he bought in South Dakota and has placed them on the King farm.

Tom Krejci is helping his brother Victor on the cheese factory this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Lammers took in the dance at Granton Saturday evening.

Mrs. Roy Lawrence and children spent Tuesday with Mrs. Huntley.

What have the readers of this paper ever done that we need to have such a tongue lashing every week?  If you East Lynn and Heathville have anything between you why not meet like men and have it out?  It is a cowardly trick to fight through a paper as well as a disgrace to print such dirty trash.
