Paul Handt made a business trip to Marshfield on Saturday.

 

Prof. Vincent transacted business at Marshfield on Monday.

 

Miss Gertie Croell went home to Chili on Saturday.

 

Mrs. N.E. Crandall visited her son Eugene and his family here on Saturday.

 

Miss Laura Gerzemehle came home from Neillsville on Sunday.

 

J.P. Johnson of Sherwood went to Tomah Friday on a a several days business and pleasure trip.

 

Geo. King came down from Minneapolis and spent Friday with home folk.

 

Miss bertha Barth visited home folk at Nasonville a couple of days last week.

 

Miss Selma Kuechenmeister came up from Stevens Point Friday and made an over Sunday visit under the parental roof.

 

Mrs. Wilbur and daughter Corrienne went home to Packwaukee on Monday.  Miss Natalie remained for a longer visit at the Lew Smith home.

 

Miss Anna Sternitzky went to Mosinee Saturday and made an over Sunday visit at her brother Robert’s.

 

Mrs. A. Martens of Chili visited her daughter Mrs. John Bladl here last week.

 

Mrs. David Steele and children came home from their visit at Black River Falls on Saturday.

 

Herman Roehl was over from Chili Tuesday.

 

Vernie Rowe and Arthur Stallman were Neillsville caller on Monday.

 

Miss Viola Youmans of Neillsville was a guest at the W.S. Davis home one day last week.

 

Fred Davis transacted business at Neillsville on Monday.

 

Mrs. Fred Schlinsog and 2 children were Neillsville callers Monday.

 

Miss Elsie Neitzel is visiting at Neillsville since Monday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zorn returned home Monday from a several days visit at Brillion.

 

Rudolph Viergutz and H. Pischer left for Canada last Monday where they expect to spend several months.

 

Chas. Haltaufderheide, Fred Gerber and son were Neillsville callers Saturday.

 

Miss Lydia Scheier resigned her position at the Wood County Hospital last week and will spend the balance of the summer at home.

 

A new iron bridge is being erected over O’Neill Creek near the E.A. Beeckler farm.

 

Henry Garbisch and children drove to Saddle Mound and spent Saturday gathering huckle berries.

 

Mrs. Albert Davis’ parents, who were here visiting her, returned to Spring Valley last Monday.

 

Fred Bredlau and Harry Kilty drove down from Loyal Sunday and enjoyed the Mission Fest and a day with old friends.

 

Frank Drescher is building a machine shed.

 

 Mrs. Hattie Beeckler is in Milwaukee since last Saturday.

 

The Misses Irma Albrecht and Frieda Garbisch expect to start for Rockham, S.D. next Monday.

 

Mrs. Joe Krause entertained a large company of friends in celebration of her birthday last week Wednesday.

 

Harvey Rinehart of Sherwood was an over Sunday guest at the Wesley Schafer home.

 

Mrs. L.L. Ayers visited her son Frank at Neillsville a couple days early this week.

 

Mrs. Annie Garbush and daughter Maude came over from neilslville Wednesday on a visit to the former’s mother, Mrs. Dave Riedel.

 

Mrs. Hattie Beeckler, Mrs. E. Gerzemehle and Mrs. Frances Burdick autoed out and spent last Friday with Mrs. Geo. Frei.

 

Mrs. I.M. Stockwell and son Carlos of Volga, S.D. and Mrs. F. J. Baer and Helene autoed down and took supper with the Clemens Kuechenmeister family last Friday.

 

Mrs. Herman Braatz will entertain the Ladies Aid of Rev. Reiff’s parish next week Wednesday, Aug. 13th.

 

The Misses Clara Drescher and Laura Gerzemehle are spending this week at the Alfred Drescher is having dental work done at Neillsville and visiting at the Chas. Eisentraut home there.

 

Dan Curtis and family, who recently purchased the Andrew Heath farm and who have been visiting at the Homer Davis home for some time returned to Richland County last Saturday.  They expect to return here in the fall to take up their permanent residence.

 

Miss Nellie Garbush, Mrs. H.C. Lawson, Mrs. Albert Davis and two children, Frank Wood, Ernest Garbush and Floyd Winn were Neillsville visitors on Friday.

 

Leo Grassman and sister Alma and Emma drove to Marshfield Saturday morning and spent the day with friends.

 

Mrs. Baer, with Mrs. Tugene Crandall and little sons, autoed down and took dinner with Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Frazier on Saturday.

 

Mrs. Gustave Ham of Lindsey visited Neillsville friends and relatives here late last week.

 

Chester Finnegan had a shingling bee at his home west of town early this week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Will Neinas of Chili attend the Mission Fest here Sunday.

 

Mr. and mrs. R.W. Groves of Lodi were visiting at the Cash Ide home early this week.

 

Mrs. Wm. Pischer of Chili spent the early part of the week here with Mrs. Henry Pischer.

 

Mrs. Gottlieb Riedel spent Wednesday with her daughter Gustie at the Wood County Asylum.

 

Merton Davis of Marshfield is assisting W.E. Benedict with harvesting since last week Thursday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Albrecht of Burlington were guests of Rev. and Mrs. Reiff between Saturday and Tuesday.

 

Rev. and Mrs. Kohlhoff and son August came up from Burlington Saturday and remained until Wednesday guests at Rev. Reiff’s.

 

John Bladl visited Anton Ebsen at Marshfield Tuesday.

 

Mrs. John Breese and Mrs. Langdon Nichols spent Tuesday with Mrs. Ed Coil.

 

The Misses Mollie and Mary Grasser went to Marshfield Tuesday on a several days visit to friends.

 

A brand new boy put in his appearance at the Clifford Winn home late last week.

 

Miss Minnie Wilke came up from the Ridge Tuesday for a couple days visit at the frank Jahr home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Rose and Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Morris and baby Grant autoed to Columbia Monday evening and got 66 quarts of fine huckle berries.  They bought ‘em.

 

Gladys Oldenburg, after a two weeks visit at Al Nonhof’s, went home Tuesday since which time her sister Vera has been a guest at the Nonhof home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Smith, their two sons and Misses Mayme Statham and Jean Munroe autoed over from Neillsville and called on the Baers Tuesday evening.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Pietenpol went to Minneapolis Saturday and remained until Wednesday, the guests of relatives.

 

Adeline Neinas’ 14th birthday was duly celebrated at her parents’ home in Fremont last Friday evening by some twenty of her young friends giving her a delightful surprise party.

 

Dan Gluch Jr., who underwent a surgical operation at the Eau Claire Hospital two weeks ago Wednesday, is getting along very nicely and it is expected that he will soon be home quite okay again.

 

Count Judge Oscar Schoengarth’, Mr. and Mrs. August Schoengarth and Geo. Rude were among the Neillsville people at the picnic last Sunday.

 

Mrs. Henry Lawson and daughter Grace and baby Earl left for Waldo Wednesday to spend two week with old friends and relatives at that place.

 

Mrs. Aug. Dux, Mrs. Wm. Dux and Mrs. Chas. Cornitz of Neillsville spent last Sunday here with rms. Chas. Schuelke.

 

Miss Ora Marsh, Vernon Rowe, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Preston and daughter Evelyn were at Marshfield on Friday.

 

Master Glen Steele at 9 year old boy earned 9 dollars in less than 9 days with his horse and pull hoisting brick and mortar for workmen at the Amidon building.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Zille and  baby Lucinda of Fond du Lac were guests at the Fred Zille home all of last week and left on the return trip Sunday.

 

Mission Fest will be celebrated by the Mapleworks German Lutheran congregation next Sunday.  Dinner will be served at a nominal sum.  Everybody is invited.   Rev. J. Gehrke of Watertown, a former pastor here, will assist at the services.

 

Miss Wilma Hurd, after a ten day visit with Mrs. Rush Wentworth, left for her home at Edgerton last Saturday.

 

The Chippewa Indians will play ball with the Chili team at the latter place next Sunday.  A good game is anticipated.

 

Frank Converse returned to Melrose Saturday.  Mrs. Converse will remain here for an indefinite visit among relatives and friends.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wilding, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hantke and Mrs. Fred Handke took an auto trip last Friday through Spencer, Unity, Colby, Abbotsford, Owen and Greenwood in the George Wilding car.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Jake Henning, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koser and Mr. and Mrs. John Hefty autoed over from chili and witnessed the ballgame here Sunday.

 

Mrs. Adolph Schune was very ill early this week.  Miss Mary Schune was home from Neillsville several days assisting in the care of her mother and has been here since Tuesday.

 

Ralph Mayhew met with a painful accident last Saturday afternoon.  While unloading hay the hay fork became unfastened from the rope and in its fall to the ground struck Ralph in the calf of the leg, inflicting an ugly, though not serious, wound.

 

Mrs. Eva Canfield, accompanied by her grandmother Starks, her brother Justin Johnson and his son Robert, Gwendolyn Kihn, and Mary Miller, the latter of Veefkind, returned Monday from a several days outing at Waupaca Lake.

 

The Ridge Birthday Club and several friends enjoyed Wednesday celebrating Mrs. John Dietrich’s birthday.

 

Among those who left for the Dakota harvest fields early this week were Jack and John Young, William Jacobi, George Kromberger, James Gibson, Joe Felser and Elmer Rose.
