Arola, Anna #2 (24 SEP 1878 - 6 OCT 1961)

Complications of old age had restricted the activities of Mrs. Matti Arola for the past several months and eventually necessitated her establishing a residence at the Havenet Nursing Home.  A week ago she became seriously ill and was admitted to St. Joseph’s hospital at Marshfield where she passed away last Friday.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen, with Rev. Karl Wilkman officiating.  Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Walfred Havelin, Voitto Mutka, Tovio Makinen, Arvi Finnila, Einar Finnila and Frank Karye.

Mrs. Arola, 83, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Takkilo, was born Sept. 24, 1878 in Finland.  She came to the United States in 1903.  On Sept. 8, 1906, she was united in marriage at Republic, Mich., to Matti Arola.  Six years later the couple moved to Owen where they purchased a farm south of the city, farming here until their retirement to Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1947.

Her passing is mourned by her husband, one son, Dan of Owen, two sisters and a brother in Finland, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
