Johnsen, Marie (20 JAN 1872 - 5 JUL 1961)

*Note - Her first name obtained from the Nazareth Cemetery Listing

At 2:00 o’clock Friday afternoon friends and relatives will pay their final respects to one of the oldest pioneer residents of the Frenchtown community, when funeral services are held for Mrs. Robert Johnsen.

Rev. Byrl Knudsen will officiated at the services to be held at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee.  Burial is to be made in the family lot in the parish cemetery.  George and James Bakke, Sid Sorensen, Einar Andersen and George Sorensen will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Johnsen passed away at her home July 5, 1961 with death being attributed to complications of old age.  She had attained the age of 80 years, 5 months and 15 days, being born Jan. 20, 1872, in Denmark.

On Nov. 20, 1896, she was united in marriage to her husband, the late Robert Johnsen, who preceded her in death, passing away in 1950, in a ceremony performed at Racine, Wis.  The couple moved to the Withee community in 1914 and during that long period of time had served faithfully as a member of the Danish Lutheran parish and its ladies aid.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Sig (Esther) Sorensen, Mrs. Unno (Helga) Bakke, and Florence Johnsen, Withee, Mrs. Orvald (Agnes) Andersen, Reserve, Mont., and Mrs. (Lillian) Jensen, Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren
