Haas, Lucy A. (18 October 1920 - 3 December 2011)

 

Lucy A. Haas, age 91, of Cadott, died Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

 

She was born October 18, 1920, in rural Stanley to Peter and Cora (Vanderloop) Henke where she attended Garfield and St. Ann’s Grade Schools before graduating from Stanley High School in 1938. For several years Lucy was employed at Blue Moon Cheese Co. in Thorp.  On June 26, 1947, she married Bernard J. Haas in Stanley and they made their home in Cadott. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1975.

 

She had a great love for her family and enjoyed reading, crocheting and keeping up-to-date scrapbooks and records of family genealogy.

 

Survivors include her four sons: Vernon (Corinne) of Cadott, WI, Earl (Lisa) of Harrisburg, PA, Delbert (Debra) of Elkhart Lake, WI and Norbert (Sheila) of Iron Mountain, MI; five grandchildren: Karen (had) Rindy of Colfax, WI, Dr. Angela (Jeff) Bojar of Buena Vista, CO, Faye Haas of Harrisburg, PA, Kate (Gregg) nelson of Cranford, NJ and Melissa (Corey) Munger of Sheboygan, WI; two great-grandsons: Zachary Rindy and Colby Munger; a sister, Phyllis Johnson of Stanley, WI; a sister-in-law, Mary Henke of Stanley, WI; two step-grandchildren: Anthony (Natalie) Rossi and their children Ella Grace and Samuel of Felch, MI, and Jennifer (Jason) Axley and their children; Noah, Dominic and Seth of Pembine, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Henke; and two sisters: Evelyn Haas and Geraldine Henke; two brothers-in-law; Marlin Johnson and Melvin Haas; and one grandson, Mark Haas.

 

Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the numerous caregivers who were involved in her life over the many years.  Lucy will always be remembered for her love of life, her gentle nature and her inquisitive mind.  She enjoyed being with and interacting with people of all ages and her smile will be missed.

 

Private family services will be held at a later date and interment will be in Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott.
