Berg, Raymond John (17 January 1956 - 7 December 2011) With Flag

 

Raymond John Berg, 55, of Humbird, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1956, to Aaron and Lorraine (Fullington) Berg in Black River Falls.

 

Raymond grew up in Merrillan before joining the army at the age of 17.  He served in the service for 17 years.  During that time, Raymond was united in marriage to Jean E. Comstock in Belton, TX, Aug. 30, 1973.  The couple had lived in Hinsville, GA, where Raymond worked at Savannah Mall as chief of security.  In June 1993, Raymond and Jean moved to Humbird.

 

He worked for Leeson, which is now Regal-Beloit in Black River Falls.  Raymond had currently been working for Ashley Furniture for 14 years.

 

Raymond enjoyed the army, listening to Pink Floyd, fishing, hunting, scratch-off tickets, camping, coin collecting, anything with an Eagle on it and most of all his grandchildren.  He was a pack leader of Boy Scouts of America.

 

He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Michelle (Joe) Hinchcliff of Humbird, Michael (Melanie) Berg of Black River Falls, Adam (April) Berg of Town of Alma, Jackson County; 14 grandchildren, Miranda, Mary, Wyatt, Morgan, Julia, Hannah, Alyssa Mason; Victoria, Trinity, Sarafin, Anika, Julianna and Aaron; niece and nephews that he helped raise and thought of as his children, William (Lisa) Kitelinger of Holmen, Rebecca (Billy) Kitelinger of Chippewa Falls, and Robert (Kimberly) Kitelinger of Fort Bragg, NC; brothers and sisters, Art (Linda) Berg of Neillsville, Sue (Rick) Thomley of Black River Falls, Steven Berg and Wayne Berg of Merrillan, and Theresa  Berg of Neillsville; many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and Aaron; sister, Peggy; and a brother David.

 

Funeral services for Raymond were held Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Merrillan United Methodist Church, Merrillan.  Reverend Meg Erickson officiated. Burial, with Military Honors, followed in Oakwood Cemetery, Merrillan. Family and friends were invited for visitation Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton. Family and friends were also invited for visitation Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

 

Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home of Hixton assisted the family with arrangements.
