Miss Ottilie Wiener was home from Marshfield over Sunday.

 

The Herman Riedel home has a girl baby two weeks old tomorrow.

 

Mrs. Jos. Reiff and children came home from a couple of days visit at Wausau on Saturday.

 

Ernest Todd spent Monday at Marshfield.

 

Arthur Berg is in the hospital at Marshfield since Monday.

 

Mrs. G.E. Amidon was a Marshfield to consult an eye specialist Tuesday.

 

John Mercer went to Merrillan on Monday.

 

Pete Gardner transacted business at the county seat on Monday.

 

Mrs. Alex Kriewaldt made a business trip to Marshfield Monday.

 

Mrs. Gerzemehle spent Saturday with relatives at Marshfield.

 

W.J. Davis transacted business at the county seat Tuesday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Furgeson entertained guests from Sparta all last week.

 

Viva Drake went to Neillsville Saturday and made an over Sunday visit among friends.

 

Carrier B. Tykac spent Sunday with his family at Columbia.

 

Carl helm left fro Forest Jct. Monday night.

 

Miss Laura Gotter came home from Milwaukee two weeks ago.

 

Mrs. F.J. Baer was engaged with abstract work at Neillsville last Friday morning.

 

Milton Huntley went to Birnamwood Wednesday to work for A.J. Lammers this summer.

 

Mrs. Kearney Davis and Mrs. Mabel Welsh were at Marshfield on Wednesday.

 

Mrs. John Kauth went to Marshfield Wednesday to attend the funeral of her brother’s wife.

 

Co. Supt. Miss Bessie Kennedy drove out from here Wednesday and visited schools in the town of Sherwood.

 

Mrs. Otto Frauenheim of Denver, Colo., after a couple of months visit at Chris Ginther’s, left for Chicago Wednesday.

 

Henry Riedel, Miss Emma Krejci, Mrs. Geo. Beaver, Mrs. F.J. Baer and Miss Emma Kimball were Neillsville visitor Wednesday.

 

Principal max Geimer, with Miss Lillie Shapiro and Miss Lela Potter, will be of the school forces again next year.

 

Newton Toptine came home from a several days visit at Athens on Tuesday.

 

The Granton Brass Band will give a concert and dance at the M.W.A. hall at Nasonville tomorrow, Saturday night.

 

Mrs. John Heft spent Saturday with her son and his family at Chili.

 

Miss Harriet Pietenpol is visiting friends at Marshfield since last Tuesday.

 

W.R. Happe and Otto Becker transacted business at Neillsville Saturday evening.

 

John and Jesse Sparks of Sherwood transacted business here on Monday.

 

Dan Messing of Lindsey called on town friends here Monday and took the afternoon train for Wood County points on business.

 

Miss Bennett, Mrs. Ross and children and Mrs. L.G. Morris were Neillsville visitors Saturday.

 

Dan Rausch and E.R. Wonser made a business trip to Marshfield late last week when Dan drove a new Overland car home from there.

 

Mrs. Otto Yankee, Miss Lydia Yankee, Mrs. Hale Davis and Miss Lillie Shapiro spent Saturday at Marshfield.

 

Mrs. A.M. Long of Washburn is visiting Mrs. M. Hatch at Medford since Tuesday.

 

Miss Louise Krause left for Pemperville, Ohio, Tuesday to spend the summer with her sister Clara, Mrs. W.C. Edgbert.

 

T.C. Stockwell and family of Dallas, Oregon are spending several days of this week with the Baer’s.

 

Miss Lydia Puscheck is assisting Mrs. D.S. Rausch with her housework.

 

The digging for the basement of G.E. Amidon’s new building was completed Wednesday and Julius Hanson and crew from Marshfield commenced laying the foundation on Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Chas. E. Brooks was very ill several days late last week threatened with pneumonia, though okay again now.

 

In the high wind of last week Thursday afternoon the kitchen roof of the W.S. Davis home took fire and gave the family a big scare.  The quick telephone connection and the prompt arrival of help so summoned saved the house.

 

Miss Minnie Nemitz of Globe, after a several weeks visit here at her sister, Mrs. Herman Riedel’s, went to Neillsville Monday.

 

Mrs. Gustie Breed came home on Saturday from a several days visit with Mrs. Frances Woodward at Neillsville.

 

Mrs. Will Shafer went to Merrillan Saturday and met her sister Miss Edith Frome, who is here from Whitehall to visit her.

 

Arthur Judd and Miss Flora Young, both of York, took the train here Tuesday, enroute to Beach, Montana.

 

Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Moh and Mrs. Henry Beyer, Mr. and Mrs. W. Scharf and Mrs. Mabel Welsh were Neillsville callers Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Hunter and her mother Mrs. Pool went to Alma Center on Tuesday.  Mrs. Hunter expects to return tomorrow, though Mrs. Pool will remain indefinitely.

 

Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Daughhetee and daughter Cleo, Mr.a nd Mrs. W.J. Davis were at Neillsville Saturday evening to attend the annual banquet given by the I.O.O.F. of that city.

 

Richard Selves, accompanied by Mrs. August Snyder and Mrs. Kate Brown of Neillsville, went to Colby Tuesday to attend the funeral of their invalid niece Margareth Selves, a daughter of their brother Thomas.

 

Dan Palmer Jr., who attended school at Sycamore, Ill. last year, is her with his father and brother since Saturday.

 

Mrs. Breitenbach and her granddaughter, little Elinor Streigel, after an extended visit here at Gust Bergeman’s, went home to Black Creek on Saturday.

 

Woodward Isham, after a week’s visit at Webb Winn’s, left for Hastings, Minn., Saturday, where he is engaged in newspaper work.

 

Fred Heibel came home Tuesday from Marshfield where he was for treatments.  Fred still suffers greatly from the injuries which he received to his spine several months ago.

 

On account of illness, Miss Hallie Eberhardt has resigned her position in the school here and will leave for her home at Camp Douglas tomorrow.  She expects to enter a hospital at La Crosse soon and undergo an operation for appendicitis.

 

Mrs. Almira Coil was taken alarmingly ill at the John Breese home last week Thursday and for several days was in a precarious condition, though at this writing she is recovering nicely.

 

Price Beeckler and family came up from Dubuque, Ia. last Saturday to spend 4 or 5 weeks among relatives before leaving for their new home at Terre Haute, Ind., where Price goes to work for the same employer had had at Dubuque.

 

Alex Kriewaldt, through Marshfield parties, sold his cheese factory and creamery here to Oscar Peterson of Dorchester, last week.  Mr. Kriewaldt has accepted a position in the C.E. Blodgett cold storage plant at Marshfield and will take up his residence in that city.  Mrs. Peterson is a man with a family who will move here just as soon as the house is vacant.

 

Mrs. Geo. A. Ure came over from Neillsville Saturday and attended the O.E. S. Birthday party at Mrs. Knorr’s.

 

Rev. Wolf held services here in the Union Church Sunday night and has regular appointment now for every alternate Sunday evening here.
