Strebing, Esther (19 May 1877 - 2 September 1963)

 

Mrs. Esther Strebing, 86, of Neillsville, died here Monday.  Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ officiating.  Burial will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Strebing was born May 19, 1877, in Arlington Heights, Ill., and attended schools there. She came with her parents, the late Robert and Alice (Hewett) Hewett, to Clark County, where the family located on a farm in the Town of Washburn. On May 10, 1898, she was married to August Strebing in Riverside, Ill.  Mr. Strebing died in 1952.  Following their marriage they farmed in the town of Washburn until 1945, when they retired and moved into Neillsville.

 

She is survived by six children: Mrs. Florence Spaete of Neillsville; Howard Strebing of Rt. 1, Marshfield; Kenneth Strebing of Neillsville; Clarence Strebing of Owen; Ray Strebing of New York Mills, N. Y.; and Miss Evelyn Strebing of Alexandria, Va.  Other survivors are 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Funeral services were held last Thursday for Mrs. Esther Strebing, 86, of Neillsville, who died September 2.  The Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ officiated at services from the Georgas Funeral Home.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. W. C. Koehler sang, "Jesus Lover of my Soul" and "Asleep in Jesus" accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

 

Pallbearers were: Joe Kaczor, August Beyer, William Matuszak, Herbert Mildebrath, Robert Wucki and Ernest Ulrich.

 

People from away attending the service were: Miss Evelyn Strebing of Alexandria, Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Strebing, Mike, and Gail of New York Mills, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Strebing, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Howard Strebing, Jr., Mrs. Richard Thompson and sons, of Marshfield; and Mrs. Lillian Gerard of Menasha.
