Barth, Conrad #2 (20 MAR 1896 - 29 MAY 1959)

Conrad Barth, 63, a farmer in the town of Mead (Clark Co., Wis.), was found pinned under his tractor on the rear part of his farm about 3:30 Friday afternoon.  Death had occurred several hours earlier when the tractor evidently overturned on him.

He had begun plowing about 9:30 a.m. and made on trip across the field when he apparently lost control of the tractor while making a burn.  The tractor struck a fence post, chewed through the fence, and rolled over into an adjoining pasture.  His body was found by his wife, Gertrude.

Clark County Coroner Robert Lulloff said Barth died instantly of a broken neck and crushed collar bone.  Lulloff ruled the death accidental.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the city of Thorp Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Robert Olson officiating.  Military services were accorded the deceased by Cecil Tormey Post 118 members at the grave.  A complete obituary will be published next week.

Pallbearers for Mr. Barth Tuesday afternoon, all members of the Thorp Legion Post, were: Tim Polnaszek, Bill Vanderhyden, Leif Larson, William Roeder, Herman Doege and Harry Smith.
