Plummer, Frank H. (16 October 1893 - 23 July 1963)

 

Funeral services were conducted last Thursday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Frank H. Plummer, 69, of Rt. 2, Neillsville, who died July 23.  He had been a hospital patient since last April.  The Rev. Lloyd Mauer of the Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Arkansaw Cemetery.

 

Frank Plummer was born October 16, 1893, in Arkansaw, where he attended school.  He did farm work as a young man and entered World War I at Durand on July 13, 1917.  He was discharged from service May 17, 1919, at Camp Grant.  He received the Purple Heart.

 

For the last 33 years Mr. Plummer did carpentry and painting.  On July 10, 1919, he was married to the former Marie Sweeney in Arkansaw. The family came to Clark County in 1949 and located on a farm in the Town of Hewett.  He had been ill for the last two years.

 

Mr. Plummer was a member of Post No. 1039, V. V. W., the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans Tri-County Post, No. 26, all of Menomonie.

 

He is survived by his wife; three children, Byron Plummer of Granton; Bernard Plummer of Chicago, Ill.; and Mrs. Rueben (Judy) Garbisch of Granton; a sister, Mrs. Nettie Kins of Mondovi; and 11 grandchildren.

 

Pallbearers were: Richard Karl, Arthur Nemitz, Carl Nemitz, Harry King, Charles Plummer and Frank Knippel.  "Rock of Ages" and "Abide with me," was sung by the Misses Colleen and Connie Montgomery and Eileen Garbisch, accompanied by Ruth Garbisch.

 

People from away here for the funeral were: Bernard Plummer of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Myron Sweeney of Colfax; Mrs. Floyd and James Sweeney of Menomonie; Mrs. Philip Brehm of Janesville; Charles Plummer of Lake Geneva.

 

Those from Granton here were: Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Garbisch, Miss Ruth Garbisch, Colleen and Connie Montgomery, Eileen Garbisch, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Plummer and family, Miss Lee Ann Garbisch and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer.

 

Military rites were conducted by the Hosford-Chase Post, No. 32, of the American Legion, of Menomonie.
