Garbush, Clarence (JAN 1898 - 7 MAR 1913)

(Zion American Cemetery listing and another obituary for him spell his name Garbisch)

Last Thursday afternoon while cutting wood with his father on their farm, Clarence Garbush was struck by a falling tree top and suffered an injury which caused his death at 6 o’clock the next morning.  His father, in extricating the lad, suffered a painful though not serious cut in the face.  Help was summoned and the boy, conscious all the time, was assisted home.  The lad was injured internally and the seriousness of it was not apparent to those out of the medical profession.  Two doctors attended the lad before morning, but he was beyond human help and though conscious to the last, he died within 15 hours of the accident.  Deceased was only 15 years old last January, the son of Gustave and Annie Garbush.  His grief stricken parents and three surviving sisters have the sympathy of all.  The funeral was held from the Grant German Lutheran Church Monday afternoon, Rev. Reiff officiating.  Interment was made in the church cemetery.
