Backwoods correspondent to a country newspaper is at best a pretty prestige and a small vantage ground from which to air personal animosities.  Plot and foil is the history of ambition.  The big world cares not a whit who is under you; you or the other fellow.  Cut it out friends.  Broader fields of endeavor await you, stand forth for clean journalism, wholesome news and discussion of seasonable topics.

The Ladies Aid of Lindsey M.E. Church will meet March 6th at the Attenberg home.  Bring thimbles.

Speaking of ambition, a Wisconsin man turned down a bid for U.S. Senator because the duties of the office would take him away from his invalid wife.

A great prima donna recently declined an invitation to dine with Taft.  She was too tired, and she didn’t care for too many acquaintances.  But we flaunt our superiority over the fellow worth two dollars less.

The basket social to have been given at the Woodman Hall Friday night was postponed on account of the storm, to Saturday night, when a fair sized crowd attended.

The train was unable to get any further than Dexterville on Thursday on account of a breakdown.

A covey of quail has been coming up near the buildings every day.  They are so tame and pretty.  Woe to the miscreant who molests them.

Ed Hahn returned to his duties with the C.M. & St. P. R.R. Co. at Wausau, Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Cal Muir entertained a few friends Wednesday evening.  Louis Ladue also entertained that evening.
