The rumor has reached our ears that the East Lynn brass band intends to give a concert in the near future.  Their instructor is to be praised as they are now able to play "Yankee Doodle" backward, and part of "Turkey in the Straw."

A few from here attended the band concert at Granton Friday night and were all pleased with the prgorm.  They declared that the music was nearly as good as that rendered by our local musicians.

Our local weather prophets, after studying all the signs, have decided that we will have a late spring, provided that winter does not break up until the last of March.

We wish to apologize for the shortness of our news column this week.  We were slightly indisposed on account of a small argument with our wife which was punctuated with the bald headed end of a broom handle.
