Dennis, Robert (25 NOV 1889 - 26 JAN 1913)

The funeral of Robert Dennis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dennis, was held in the Methodist Church at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, and a large number of the friends of the family gathered to testify to their sorrow.

Robert Elza Dennis was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dennis and was born in Mayfield, Ill., Nov. 25, 1889.  When ten years of age he went with his parents to Wisconsin where he lived until four years ago when he returned to Sycamore, his parents coming two years later.  Last fall he was engaged in farm work and in the early winter went to Montana.  Not being strong, he felt the climate there did not agree with him, and he came home, reaching here Dec. 25.  He was sick when he arrived here, and as he had a relatives here from the West a few weeks earlier, sick, and who died from typhoid fever, his parents were alarmed and left nothing undone for fear of the same sickness, but it was of no avail, and on Sunday, Jan. 26, 1913 at 6 p.m., he passed away.  This is the fifth death in the family in six years; three children in 1907, Russell, aged 3 years, of cholera; Forest, aged 5 months, and Irma, aged 6 years, of diphtheria; and Hollis, aged 2 years, in 1910, of kidney trouble; and it seems almost too much to bear, but the parents and brothers are bearing up bravely, and they have the deepest sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances.  (Sycamore X)
