Simek, Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Golden - 11 May 1963)

 

Anniversary dinner for relatives and close friends was held Sunday at the Frank Simek home honoring Mr. and Mrs. Frank Simek on their 50th wedding anniversary.  Open house followed from 2 to 5 p.m., with many neighbors and friends calling to wish the honored couple happiness.

 

Mr. Simek was born January 18, 1889, in Chicago, the son of James and Theresa Simek. He attended Chicago schools and at the age of 17 became an apprentice to a plumber.  Later, he changed his mind about his future work and became an apprentice in painting, a trade he followed for many years in this area.

 

Mrs. Simek, the former Mary Storek, was born in Czechoslovakia and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Storek to America when she was 10 years old. The family located in Chicago and on May 11, 1913, Frank Simek and Mary Storek were married in St. Michael’s Catholic Church.  Their attendants were Frank Storek, brother of Mrs. Simek, and Annette Peterson of Chicago.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Simek came to this area in October, 1919, and located on a farm in the Town of York. They later moved to Neillsville.

 

Mrs. Simek, active in her home work also is an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church being a member of the Catholic Women.  Mr. Simek belongs to its holy Name Society.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Simek are the parents of a son, William, of Neillsville, who assists his father in the painting business; and a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Gault of Wausau.

 

Among those present for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gault and son of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. William Simek and sons, Neillsville; Mrs. Ann Ruda, Mrs. Barbara Lehner and Mano Simek, Mr. and Mrs. John Horn and sons, and Annette Peterson, all of Chicago; and Mrs. Helen Storek of Neillsville.
