Foemmel, Daniel F. & Rhonda J. (Century Farm - 2011)

Century Farm -- Rhonda J & Daniel F Foemmel -- Foemmel Farms -- The Foemmel farm was established in 1911 in the town of Chili when Fred Foemmel bought 80 acres from the local logging company. Shortly after Fred bought the land, August and Louise Foemmel married in December 1911 and purchased the place. Since all of the land was wooded, the land was cleared in 1912. Their house was built along with a barn, and 13 Holstein cows started the milking herd. In 1937, a machine shed was added to the estate.

In 1962, Forrest and Janette bought the farm from August and Louise after farming with them for a period of time. In 1968, a milk house and calf pen addition was added with a silo to come later in 1978.

Daniel and Rhonda then acquired the farm in 1982 and currently farm it today. They have four sons: Joshua, Jonathan, Joel and Jeremiah. Joshua and Joel farm with their father Daniel.

In 1989, they added a pipeline to their barn to help with smoother milking. In 1990, they built a new machine shed that is filled with John Deere equipment. They have 37 Holsteins that are milked in stanchions on the original farm that they milk. They have a total of 600 acres of which 400 is cropland to make feed for the cows. These acres consist of oats, corn and hay. In the summer months, the cows eat grain and get their forage from the pastures. The Foemmel farm is a five-generation Clark County farm.
