Rueth, Joe (June 1957)

Two men were injured and another shaken up in a two car collision a mile west of Loyal about 7 p.m. Tuesday night. None of the injuries were considered serious.

Injured were Joe Rueth, a passenger in  the 1947 Ford which was driven by Robert Scheel. Ruth was taken by Myre ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Scheel received only cuts and bruises.

The driver of the other auto, John Peterson of Neillsville, appeared to be suffering from shock and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Neillsville. He was alone in the 1957 Ford.

The Peterson auto was heading east and the Scheel auto proceeding west when the mishap occurred. Scheel was attempting a left turn and apparently was blinded by the sun when the two cars collided. The impact turned the Scheel auto completely around and the Peterson auto continued on into the ditch.

County Traffic Officer Harry Franz and Police Chief Orell Paulson were both at the scene. Both autos suffered extensive front end damage.
