Granton (7 February 1963)

 

The quarterly meeting of the congregation of the Zion Lutheran Church was held Wednesday evening in the church.  Part of the business conducted was the issuance of a call for a pastor to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the Rev. L. E. Schreiber.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Elmhorst and Mrs. Renata Rounsville of Minneapolis, Minn., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Witte and visited H. C. Witte in Memorial Hospital at Neillsville.

 

Mrs. Donald Dayton was guest of honor at a pink and blue shower Friday evening at the Dayton home.  Hostesses were Mrs. Carl Bladl and Mrs. Carl Montgomery.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ottow and Mrs. William Ottow of Neillsville visited Wednesday with Mrs. William Ottow’s sister, Mrs. Ollie Poler.

 

Mrs. Martin Reinart and three daughters of Merrillan were Sunday guests at the Ollie Poler home.

 

Mrs. Van Kayser and Mrs. William Schmidtke attended a school of instruction in the Loyal Methodist Church Sunday.  They were accompanied to Loyal, by Mrs. Mabel Austin, who spent the day with Mrs. R. K. Stevens.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Dankemyer of Neenah visited Friday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidtke.  They had attended funeral services for his sister-in-law, Mrs. Freeman Dankemyer, earlier Friday afternoon.

 

The Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church will meet this (Thursday) afternoon in the church parlor.

 

Miss Leilah Dopp of Marshfield and Mrs. Elsie Nowack spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barr in Neillsville.

 

Mrs. Roland Quicker, Mrs. Elsie Nowack and Mrs. Melvin Shafer visited Friday afternoon with Mrs. Dan Garbisch and spent the afternoon playing cards.
