If anybody tells you that C. G. can not look pleasant just hand him a bottle when you meet him on the road and you will see a very pleasant smile and also the contents of the bottle disappear.

There is a young man living in this Neighborhood that seems to be a puzzle.  He does not like an outlaw, and has the appearance of being honest.  Somehow not log ago he got in his possession a home made dollar. A friend of his advised him to get it off his hands as soon as possible, and having heard that Chili was a good place for all such good things he started out for the above named place bright and early Monday morning with the bogus dollar in his inside pocket.  His victim was a young fellow that thought everything that is round is a dollar.  But lo and behold when he laid it on L. A. R’s cashier to pay for some goods  that he had purchased, the clerk, being a suspicious fellow and always on the look out for trouble and pretty girls gave the hocus pocus thing one side long glance and with a grin on his face like the one that Paul Bealer carries when he is a winner in a game of freeze-out.  He shoved the big iron dollar back to the poor victim with the remark; we take nothing but the genuine article here.
