I'm writing to send corrections and additions to the information provided about the ANGEL family of Clark County, WI.   I have had personal knowledge of this family for 60+ years.  Joe and Rachal Alvernaz  were friends and neighbors of my family on Garden Lane in Los Gatos, CA .

Jose Pereira Alvernaz   ( son of Joao Pereira Alvernaz and Filomena Amelia de Escobar)   

b. 12 June, 1903 Cedros, Horta Faial, Azores, Portugal

d. 14 December, 1993 San Jose, Santa Clara County, CA

Immigration: Arrival 22 September, 1923   "SS Roma"  from  Horta-Fayal, Azores to Providence, Rhode Island

Naturalization:  08 September, 1930   US District Court, San Francisco, CA

Occupation:   Owner,  Sun Ray Dairy , Garden Lane, Los Gatos, Santa Clara County,  CA  (first dairy in the area)

From the obituary of  Rachal Angel:

Rachel M Angel Alvernaz was born 29 December, 1907 in Lynn, Wisconsin.  She came to Los Gatos in 1923 and graduated from LG High School   She married Joe Alvernaz  and the couple operated the Sun Ray Dairy in Los Gatos.  She also served as president of the LG Elementary School PTA, the Santa Clara Cattlewomen's Assoc, and the Los Gatos Branch of American War Mothers.

 

She was preceded in death by Joe Alvernaz, her husband of 67 yrs as well as seven sisters and three brothers.  Survivors included  daughters Beatrice Marchetti, Gloria Hampel.  Sons Joseph Alvernaz Jr and Robert Alvernaz.  Grandchildren Andy, Alan, John, Clayton, Joseph and Lacy Alvernaz;  Gina, Mario and Leo Marchetti;  Deborah Clark, Rebecca Steele, Patti Turner, Lynda and David McGee;  Terri Smith, Carole Anderson and Gina Strong; 31 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; brothers Wiley and Donald Angel, and many nieces and nephews.
