Baures, Marcella A. (28 September 1923 - 13 July 2011)

 

Marcella A. Baures, age 87, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday July 13, 2011, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley.  Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011,a t St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers were her grandsons: Tyler Baures, Alan Baures, James Abramczak, Tom Mroczenski, Joe Mroczenski and Luke Mroczenski.  Visitation was held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

 

Marcella Ann Kastel was born on September 28, 1923, in the Town of Edson, rural Stanley, the daughter of John and Ann (Ryba) Kastel. She was raised on the family farm and educated in area schools, graduating from Stanley High School.  She met her future husband, Firmin Baures, at a dance and they were united in marriage February 27, 1946, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stanley.  Marcella was a farm wife and homemaker her entire life.

 

She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends, singing, canning, baking, gardening, sewing, playing cards, raising flowers and playing Yahtzee.

 

Marcella was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW.

 

She is survived by her children: Sandy (Don) Doepke of Schofield, Gary Baures of Thorp, Diane (Jim) Mroczenski of Marathon, Bill (Marcie) Baures of Waunakee, Darlene (Don) Abramczak of Thorp, and mary (Ray) Miller of Greenwood.  She is further survived by 14 grandchildren: Shelley, Dana, Dawn, Amber, Tom, Joe, Luke, Katie, Tyler, Alan, James, Carrie, Christie and Sarah; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Ruff of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Firmin; one son, Gordon; eight brothers and four sisters.
