Ervin Erich Carl Kroll, 85, died July 24, 2011, surrounded by his family, at the Mayo Health System in La Crosse.

 

Ervin was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Neillsville to the late Edward and Lillie (Schoenherr) Kroll.  Ervin proudly served four years in the U. S. Army during WWII.  Ervin married Eileen (Bemis) in June of 1947. Eileen preceded him in death Feb. 19, 2000.  He married Jeannette (Cook) Jan. 11, 2003.  They had nine wonderful years together traveling and spending time with family and friends.  Over the years, Ervin was employed by Nelson Muffler Industries, Mineral Point Water Department and also drove for Abby Vans.

 

Ervin was a member of The American Legion in Neillsville and Bangor.  He proudly participated in the first Freedom Honor Flight to Washington D. C.  Irvin was also a member of AA, where he met many wonderful friends and also started an AA chapter in West Salem.

 

Ervin is survived by his wife, Jeannette; sons, Bradley (Judy) Kroll and Kevin Kroll; stepdaughters, Janet (Doug) Hansen, Jane (Edmund) Knudtson, Rita (Virgil) Thompson and stepson, Bill Cook.  He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Merlyn (Jean) Kroll; and sister, Eileen (Arnie) Buchholz; along with numerous extended family and friends.

 

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by brother, Wilmer, and grandson Paul Hansen.

 

Visitation for Ervin will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the West Salem Presbyterian Church, 625 West Franklin Street, West Salem.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

 

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the ninth-floor staff and hospice at the La Crosse Mayo Health System for their loving care and compassion.

 

The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is assisting the family.
