Welsh, Grant  (08 AUG 1864-10 JUN 1956)

 

Grant Welsh, 92, son of early pioneer, the late Mr. and Mrs. William Welsh, died in a Neillsville Convalescent Home Sunday Afternoon, June 10.

 

He was born at Iron Ridge, August 8, 1864 and came to the township of Loyal with his parents the next year. He received his education in the rural school of Dodgeville. He was married to Miss Susie Gearhardt of Appleton and layer they moved into the village of Loyal. Three sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Welsh, Howard, of New York City and Lawrence and Irvin of Loyal. All survive their father.

 

Mr. Welsh served as Justice of the Peace of Loyal for several years.

 

Last June after breaking his hip, he was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, and from there he was taken to Neillsville where he remained until his death.

 

Mr. Welsh was one of a family of 13 children, all of whom, with exception of one sister, Mrs. Mary Vetter of Perkintown have preceded him in death.

 

The body rested in state at the Myre Funeral Home from Tuesday noon until the time of the funeral which was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
