Ringrose, Charles E. (3 AUG 1869 - 28 DEC 1944)

After many weeks of illness with a heart affliction, Charles E. Ringrose of Alma Center, brother of Will Ringrose of this village (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.), died at the Krohn Hospital in Black River Falls at 6:00 o’clock last Thursday evening, Dec. 28, 1944.

Mr. Ringrose was born a son of the family of eight children of Joseph and Jane Ringrose, in the town of Garden Valley, Jackson County, Aug. 3, 1869, and was 75 years, 4 months and 25 days of age at the time of his death.  His entire span of life was spent in Jackson County.  Following his marriage to Miss Sherlotta Newton March 14, 1900, he operated the home farm.  In 1902 they moved into Alma Center, where he became associated with J.T. Ringrose and H.S. Cadby in the implement business.  Later he became a member of the firm, and continued until they sold out the business about twelve years ago.

Mrs. Ringrose passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 1944.  Everett E. their only son, died on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, and the final summons came to the husband and father on Thursday, Dec. 28, 1944.  The three members of the family taken within a year, and a strange coincidence of each summons coming on the same day of the week.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Sue Ann and Charles D. Ringrose of Black River Falls; two sisters and four brothers: Miss Evelyn and George, B.R. Falls; Mrs. Nellie Liser, Baraboo; Joseph, Portland, Ore.; Frank, B.R. Falls; and Will, Humbird.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Alma Center at 2:00 Sunday afternoon, Rev. A.R. Klein of Sparta, officiating, assisted by Rev. R.W. Sachtjen.  Many relatives and friends attended; among those from here were Mr. and Mrs. Will Ringrose and S.R. Newton and family.  Burial was in the Alma Center Cemetery.
