Olson, August #2 (1887? - 14 AUG 1944)

Last Friday afternoon burial services for August M. Olson, who passed away at the Neillsville Hospital, were held at the Rickard Funeral Home in Fairchild.  The Rev. F. J. Smith of the Augusta Methodist Church officiated.  Pallbearers were Peter Fradenburg, Harry Iffland, Raymond Stuve, J. Art Johnson, and two boyhood friends from Levis.  Many beautiful fall flowers were sent to the services from friends, neighbors, and co-workers here, and several auto loads of friends went from here to attend the last rites and interment.  Burial was in the family lot in the cemetery near his former home at Levis.

August Melvin Olson, son of Gustav and Martha Olson, was born in the town of Garfield, in Jackson County, on Feb. 10, 1887, and passed away August 14, 1944, at the age of 57 years, 6 months, and 4 days.  In young manhood he learned auto maintenance, and came here to work about twenty-six years ago.  He made his home with the H.N. Briggs family in the hotel, when first coming here; and his home was with them until the time of his death.  He leaves two brothers: Henry of St. Paul and Charles of the town of Garfield; one sister, Mrs. Ida Anderson of Bay City, Wis.; seven nephews, five nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
