Dettman, Dennis A. (21 MAR 1941 - 4 JUN 2011)

 


Dennis A. Dettman, 70, of Dorchester passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Abbotsford.


A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Pastor Bruce Jahnke will officiate. A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, as well as at 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday. Burial will follow at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery, Dorchester.


Dennis was born March 21, 1941, to Ruben and Clara (Shueneman) Dettman in Athens. Dennis attended Athens Grade School until the family moved to a new farm outside of Curtiss in 1950. He finished his schooling at Curtiss Grade School. Dennis worked for the Dorchester Feed Store and Co-op for many years in feed and fertilizer until his retirement in 1996.


He enjoyed farming, plowing snow, mowing lawns with his sister, driving feed truck, watching the Green Bay Packers and providing transportation for Mennonites. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.


Dennis is survived by his sisters; Betty Haufe of Abbotsford, Janet Potocnik of Missouri, and Karen Dettman of Madison. Dennis is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.


Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leroy Dettman and brothers-in-law Roland Haufe and Joe Anacin.
