Haase, Rose (14 February 1882 - 31 March 1962)

Mrs. Rose Haase, 80, died March 31 at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Franz, after a long illness following a stroke.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Immanuel United Church.  The Rev. Orval Egbert officiated, and burial was made in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Braun Settlement.

Mrs. Haase, nee Rose Kessler, daughter of Sebastian and Marie (Yungfleisch) Kessler, was born February 14, 1882, in Advance, Mich.  When she was four years old the family moved to Chicago, where she received her education.  She was married September 5, 1903, to Herman Haase at the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Betram Reid.

After their marriage they lived in Chicago until 1915, when they came to Greenwood and farmed northwest of here until her husband’s death in 1932. From 1941 to 1953 she made her home in Chicago with her sister, Miss M. R. Kessler. Since 1953 she lived on the home farm with her daughter, Mrs. Albert Franz, and her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Doris) Franz and Mrs. Otto (Rose) Horn of Greenwood; two grandsons, Arthur Franz, and Darrel Horn, and two great-granddaughters, all of Greenwood; three sisters, Miss M. R. Kessler, Mrs. August (Elizabeth) Schmidt and Mrs. Henry (Clara) Kraemer, all of Chicago.
